Kasasagi Japanese Fine Art

Bringing Japanese Fine Art to Life Online

Kasasagi Japanese Fine Art is a Melbourne-based eCommerce store offering an exceptional selection of rare and authentic Japanese antiques — often even broader than what you’d find in Japan itself. When Kasasagi reached out to us, they were feeling frustrated. Their existing website hadn’t seen a serious upgrade in five years, and changes were painfully expensive and time-consuming with their previous agency. They needed a partner who valued their independence and vision, while still elevating the user experience and, ultimately, driving more sales.

We were introduced to Kasasagi through a mutual network connection, and from our first conversation, it was clear they needed more than just a new look. They needed an updated, intuitive site that would enhance user experience, support their operational preferences, and scale with their growing inventory. The project involved a careful balance: improve everything without losing what was already working. From thoughtful web design to robust development and ongoing support, we delivered a fully upgraded, conversion-focused eCommerce experience — and the results speak for themselves.

The Solution / Strategy

We knew that the solution had to strike a delicate balance between strategic innovation and practical implementation. Kasasagi was attached to their current website’s structure and felt comfortable managing it themselves. So, rather than reinventing the wheel, our strategy was to refine and optimise the wheel — keeping their preferred systems intact while enhancing performance, usability, and conversion pathways.

Web Design – Elevated User Experience

Kasasagi’s original site had charm – it reflected the traditional elegance of their inventory. But it needed better structure, clearer navigation, and improved usability across devices. The challenge was updating the design without stripping away what made it special.

We focused on small visual lifts with big UX impact. Clean typography, wider image displays, and simplified menus helped customers find what they were looking for faster. Product categories were restructured to better showcase their inventory, with added filtering and a more intuitive shopping flow.

The aesthetic stayed true to Kasasagi’s identity: minimal, elegant, and purposeful. Every pixel was placed with intention, maintaining the cultural authenticity of the products while delivering a modern eCommerce experience.

The results? More engaged users, lower bounce rates, and a measurable uptick in completed purchases.

Web Development – Platform Power-Up

With over 1,000 individual products – many one-of-a-kind – robust development was non-negotiable. Our goal was to retain their existing content and product data while transitioning to a faster, more secure platform.

We carried out a full site migration, ensuring all SEO elements, metadata, and historical customer information were preserved. No broken links, no missing records – just a seamless shift.

We enhanced page speed with optimised images, clean coding practices, and caching improvements. Security protocols were also reinforced, giving Kasasagi peace of mind and better protection against threats.

With mobile now leading their traffic share (4,915 mobile clicks and 167K impressions via Google Search Console), responsiveness was a key focus. The new site performs beautifully on mobile and tablet, offering the same polished experience as desktop.

Kasasagi’s backend was also streamlined. They now have easy access to make updates in-house without relying on an agency for every minor tweak – saving them time and money.

Maintenance & Support

Following the relaunch, we didn’t just walk away – we continued to support Kasasagi with proactive maintenance and strategic input.

From ensuring plugins and integrations stay up to date, to offering guidance on future upgrades, our goal is simple: keep the site running smoothly so Kasasagi can focus on growing their business.

We’ve also built in support resources, giving them the tools and confidence to manage their site autonomously. This was a game-changer after their previous experience with inflexible, overpriced agency contracts.

Our relationship is built on trust, transparency, and shared goals. And as their business grows, we’re right there beside them.

What started as a much-needed refresh quickly became a complete transformation for Kasasagi Japanese Fine Art. With a modernised design, improved performance, and total data integrity, we delivered a site that the client loves — and their customers do too. The numbers say it all: a 23% increase in users, 25% more screen page views, and a 21% rise in sessions. Organic search is thriving, and “Japanese art Melbourne” continues to drive qualified traffic. All with a site that looks stunning, runs smoothly, and puts the power back in the client’s hands.
